St. Mary-le-Strand
Standing on an island in the middle of a busy city street, St. Mary-le-Strand was built by Gibbs between 1714-7, to help alleviate the need for more churches to serve London's growing population.
Now combined with the parish of St. Clement Danes, another "island" church a short way up the same street, St. Mary serves mainly as a concert and exhibition center.
